Got Intent?

Arun Radhakrishnan has a detailed and informative round-up of Semantic Search Engines. The challenge for these destination search engines is to get users out of the Pavlovian rush to google.com when someone says “Search”.

In addition to Quality of Results, this will require innovative UI and the ability to grab user attention early in the Intent Lifecycle, which is:

  • Realization — your intent (for information) is stimulated when you are reading content
  • Exploration — you express this intent (and any related context) into a set of keywords, rush over to GooHooSoft and search
  • Discovery — you iterate through multiple results from multiple searches until you find what you’re looking for
  • Satisfaction — you return to the original context, tired but (hopefully) wiser

MashLogic improves your efficiency with in-context search. As you read a web page, we triangulate your preferences, page conteNt and page conteXt to give you Intent Shortcuts. We save you time, mental fuel, and you don’t even have to leave the page you’re on.

If you own and operate a search engine, talk to us. Our value lies in guiding users to authoritative and credible destinations. We have a Select Partners program that sends you free, targeted user traffic — Intent Routing? — with the kinds of queries that you can knock out of the park.

Steal Back the Web!

MashLogic’s mission to shift the control of hyperlinks to users is eloquently validated in Scott Karp’s article. Search engines are Link Hubs that direct users to relevant content, and therefore exercise control over content distribution. SEO tricks are used to game the system by promising unfair advantages to sites, leading to practices like link farms and internal links. All this dilutes the value of hyperlinks to users.

As we’ve asserted, our objective is to liberate the Humble Hyperlink from the clutches of search engines, publishers, and SEO practitioners. Take Back the Web!

MashLogic is Mixx’ing it up!

Mixx.com

Things have been busy over here at MashLogic world headquarters.  Last week MashLogic teamed up with the great people over at Mixx.com to launch Mixx To Go.  Now Mixx.com users can take all the top stories with them wherever they go on the web.  MashLogic also enables users to more easily discover related content on the Mixx.com website itself, but watch out, the Mixx community finds great news and you might find yourself browsing for longer than planned!

Check out Mixx’s blog post about our integration here.  If you are already running Mashlogic you can now see Mixx.com content by enabling it on the MashLogic drop down menu.
